Applied Research - Selected Highlights

Well-designed qualitative research ignites innovation by helping access ideas and perspectives we otherwise wouldn’t discover.

I am most drawn to complex challenges and designing strategic, foundational studies that help illuminate a whole new domain. Researcher since 1998.

Insights from research I’ve done have driven strategy for Fortune 500 technology and global retail brands; established brands in media gaming, and travel; and non-profit/public sector organizations in public maternal & child health and the arts. My work has informed the design of new product lines, global brand re-launches, and inter-organizational systemic change initiatives, contributing to creating a more connected, more humane world. 

 
 

Instagram

Identified strategies to reduce bullying and harassment and promote civility on the platform. Contributed to Instagram’s understanding of teens and parents, ultimately informing development of Instagram Teen Accounts.


Google

Identified opportunities to make GoogleTV a more inclusive experience for marginalized communities.

Facebook

Helped Facebook develop and iterate products to meet the needs of small business owners. 


Established research framework to inform and evaluate leadership, learning & development and culture initiatives.

Spearheaded pro-bono program, and led original research to create inclusive remote work environment for parents, caregivers, and BIPOC individuals.


Illuminated how home visiting fits into the perinatal journey for moms across LA, and identified ways First 5 LA could increase enrollment in order to improve maternal health outcomes.

Uncovered unique experience of African American women and opportunities to serve them better to reduce birth outcome disparities. This work led to Gov. Newsom mandating implicit bias training for all reproductive health workers.  

Identified ways to optimize communications investments to motivate families of all cultures across California to talk, read, sing, and play with their kids.

Geographies: Carried out research on 4 continents across 12 countries and throughout the entire US including rural communities.
